April 9th - Reykjavik City - Lava Show - Northern Lights cruise - Videy Island

The capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, is a small city on an international scale but it makes up for it with its friendly atmosphere. There is a lot to do in Reykjavik, including museums, famous buildings or just sit down at a coffee-house and watch Icelanders go about their business.

Spend the morning at leisure in Reykjavik, popular sights to visit include:

o   House of Parliament: A classic 19th century structure, built in 1881. It houses Althingi, the Icelandic parliament.

o   Harpa: A concert hall conference center by the Reykjavik harbor.

o   Hallgrimskirkja: Standing on top of a hill, Hallgrimskirkja church towers over the city of Reykjavik.

The guide meets the group in the hotel lobby after lunch time and the adventures in Iceland begin. The first stop is the Icelandic Lava Show.

Icelandic Lava Show: The show recreates a volcano eruption, similar to what Eyjafjallajökull and Katla volcano are famous for, by pouring molten lava (1100°C / 2000°F) into the showroom and over ice. It is an epic battle between the elements and a unique opportunity to get close to red-hot lava, see it flowing, hear it sizzling, and feel the intense heat that radiates from it. Enjoy some light refreshments in the VIP area.

In the evening, we board a private vessel for a cruise in the Bay of Faxafloi and in search for the Northern Lights*. *The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and therefore is something we cannot guarantee.

You’ll stop at Videy Island for a private dinner. The island is only a short boat ride from the shores of Reykjavik but is still a world apart. There are only two buildings on the island, both of which are some of the oldest buildings in Reykjavik. You’ll have a private Dinner at Videyjarstofa house.

April 10th - Horseback riding - Gljufrasteinn - Thingvellir - Fontana Rye Bread tour

Start the day with a short horseback riding tour and get an introduction to the Icelandic Horse, which was bred exclusively and naturally, isolated in the far North Atlantic. Therefore, the Icelandic horse has some unique traits, like the fact that it has five gaits and one of the most color variants of any horse breed in the world. The horses are well- suited for both beginners and experienced riders.

The riding activity is optional. For those who wish to sleep in or explore the city in the morning we offer a transfer to meet up with the group for lunch.

Gljufrasteinn was the home of Nobel Prize for Literature winner Halldór Laxness and his family for half a century. The home is now a museum and visitors can soak in the atmosphere of the house where he lived and work, explore a multimedia presentation about Laxness and roam the garden and its surroundings.

Next stop is a part of the famous Golden Circle: Thingvellir National Park. A huge part of Iceland’s history since the first Althingi in 930. It is also a Geological phenomenon, standing on two tectonic plates that are gradually moving away from each other. Thingvellir is listed as a UNESCO World heritage site.

Before checking in at Hotel Geysir we stop at the small town of Laugarvatn and visit the Laugarvatn Fontana Bakery. Guests experience the geothermal bakery firsthand and see as we dig out a pot of fresh bread from the hot black sand. Guests are offered to taste the bread, served hot from the ground with Icelandic butter.

Check in at Hotel Geysir in the afternoon and enjoy dinner with the group at the hotel

April 11th - Geysir Area - Gullfoss Waterfall - Snowmobiling on a Glacier - Fridheimar Dinner

Today you will visit two of Iceland’s main attractions in Iceland, Gullfoss and the Geysir area. Geysir is the home to a number of hot spouting geysers. The most famous one is Great Geysir itself but the most energetic one is Strokkur, it spouts every few minutes up to the height of 40 meters.

Gullfoss is Iceland‘s most famous waterfall, plummeting down 32 meters in two stages directly to the canyon below. The water in Gullfoss comes from the second biggest glacier in Iceland, Langjokull glacier.

Head up to the highlands and visit the second biggest glacier in Iceland, Langjokull glacier. Snowmobiling on a glacier is an adventure you’ll never forget and the view is truly breathtaking. Experience and explore the glacier while you enjoy the thrill of driving a snowmobile.

In the evening you will have a private dinner at Fridheimar tomato farm.

At Fridheimar geothermal greenhouses they grow tomatoes all year round, despite Iceland’s long, dark winters, under artificial lighting in greenhouses. This evening the group will have a private dinner in the Greenhouses and taste the homegrown crops.
