Beaches in Peru? Yes! Enigma Peru shares walking barefoot along an untamed stretch of beach, exploring curious pools filled with vibrant wildlife, and awaiting the alternate reality of the stunning Pacific sunset—this is Peru’s Northern Beaches.

Peru’s Northern coast offers a wildness of shore largely untouched by resorts and tourism. The small villages of fishermen remain enchantingly unrefined despite being world-class surfing destinations. The colorful local fleets, old-school and Polaroid-perfect, provide real and fresh catch at almost every restaurant.

Horseback riding, whale watching, yoga, and surfing for beginners to world-class elite—there is no shortage of activities, whether one is looking for a thrill in water sports or total relaxation. As the sunniest part of the country, the region has a year-round allure, although it becomes dramatically busier with limeños and locals during the high summer season from December through March.

The region’s hotspot is the town of Máncora, famous for its beaches and consistent surfing, while still very much a fishing village with a strong local identity and culture. Nearby are the villages and towns of Vichayito, Los Organos, Punta Sal, and Zorritos. Along this stretch of the Peruvian coast, it is entirely possible to find oneself all alone on a wild beach, accompanied only by the surf and the birds.

And the food…otherworldly fresh fish straight out of the ocean, along with some of the most unique ceviches made with endemic clams, cooked by locals using the most amazing Peruvian seasonings. It is a perfect end to a Peruvian journey, a dream playground to enjoy the sea at its fullest or simply a remote haven to relax and unwind.
